lol this was an old P4 3ghz Preschott with an old Intel 945 mobo...been meaning to replace it for ages and never had the time. :/

What the mobo and spec's? I'd be interested, to building another PC for the LAN.

And yep...will remember that...I can usually fix most of my stuff (including onboard if need be). Was a tech for Toshiba before the kids. hahaha

Thanks btw!

Abit AB9-Pro Motherboard Socket 775 Duo Core 1066 Fsb

I got someone wanting to buy it for 50 but that's to much lol ill see bout getting something decent. I got a GA-EP35-DS3 for 50 i could probally hoock u up with something like that if that's in your price range.

I do have a Intel G945 That supports a 3.2GHZ CPU but its old as u know but it would run

i can get ASUS K8N-DRE DUAL SOCKET 940 ATX SERVER BOARD with 2 x 2GHZ operons and 4GB ram for 160 lol if u wanted to go for a server solution

U can Upgrade thos single core ones to Dual core if u want i got 2 dual core operons around the place

I know its a bit over the top lol but u could run some sweet visualization lol buy a Perc Raid card and it would be a Really fast server !

lol that's the same mobo that just decided to give me grief (and assumed screwed). I didn't bother touching for ages as it was still clucking along...until now! :/

That server board fit in a normal ass case? If so...I could be interested. I've got a raid card already (PCI-e x1)..tho nothing special. I'll google the spec's on it and let you know.

The Abit AB9-Pro would prob get me out of trouble in the short term (and the cheapest option as I have an old P4 3ghz 775 chip). Even the GA-EP35-DS3 would be fine..but i'd have to look for a a CPU to run it too....hahaha

Ps...Think I see you on eBay when I was googling those parts! hahaha

The ASUS K8N-DRE is a good Option ! its Extended ATX if that nexus case wont sell u can have it

its E-atx just cheack if the case u have now. If it has a few inches past the end of the motherboard you all good.

a 1x Slot will only give u a max of 155mb/s or something like that if u set up your switch i think u can take advantage of 2 Nic's and have a Output of 220 Mb/s. So with 2 Nic's buy a Pcie x4 card and you set. they can be had for around 60-70 if you lucky. And you will see speeds go up buy a heap !

Also u could look at running some VM's You could run the DC++ Server and Game server on the same PC.

I could give you normal PCI raid card to just 4 port but if u had 2 raid setups it would be fast

Yep...agreed, but i'd have to sit down and work out how much it'll cost me to set it up to do what I want...and weather it's overkill for my needs. lol Unless I used that for the fileserver and the current fileserver as the games fileserver....arhhhh..brain hurts. I'm pretty sure it would fit in the case I used...but will double check. If you have them on hand for Sat...i'll have alook and a chat about it...it's something I could prob use.

Thanks for that parts Jesus! Smile

I'm still thinking about that server mobo if it's still avail..the only thing that worries my on that board is that it doesn't have many expansion slots, and the sata ports don't look like they support JBOD either. That raid card you gave...would it fit on that mobo?
oh..on a side thought...how would it compare in speed to an e6700 C2D? lol

I'll grab that ABIT Pro board too if you still have it.

Yeah mabey a E6700 Would be better haha

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ASUS-K8N-DRE-DUAL-SOCKET-SOCKET-940-MOTHERBOARD_W0QQitemZ350315995947QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotherboards?hash=item519075e32b

That board is only 20 + 35 P+H which is amazing. 2GB of ECC is a bit exsensive sometimes its around 50 for 2GB but its DDR so its not the best tech lol

Yeah If u can get a Cheep E6700 and Ill try and get u a cheep motherboard for like $50 with some PCI slots.
